I see people, myself included, who are so grief-stricken over the death of Trayvon Martin, the Zimmerman verdict, and all of their implications…. it seems all we can do is keep reading about it, looking up witness testimonies, replaying the trial, getting into Twitter wars, and discussing it with friends…..
How do you have faith in a government founded by and for a specific group of people; how does a broken system serve and protect people it was never intended to help in the first place? It is hard to fathom moving past this event when this has crushed the faith of so many people.
And, in the wake of this, people everywhere feel comfortable in baring their hidden racist beliefs. Others attempt to mask their racism with poetic excuses. So then those who are mourning lose faith in the system, and also lose faith in the people around us.
That’s all. Everything else I could say, has been said.
